I was so excited when Papyrus contacted me asking if I would like to spend the day with them at the Create and Cultivate Conference in New York City. It is always a thrill when a brand you have loved for your entire lifetime reaches out wanting to work with you! If you are not familiar with Papyrus, they are the best greeting card company in all the land. They design cards and stationery for every occasion that are in my oppinion, beautiful works of art. They often collaborate with artists and fashion designers, too making their library of greeting cards even more diverse and beautiful. This year they collaborated with famed handbag designer Judith Leiber in recreating her famous clutches into cards for all events! Shop the collection here!
On May 6th – Papyrus came from Ohio to New York in celebration of women’s empowerment at the Create and Cultivate conference. Spending the day with their team, taking over their Instagram and interacting with fellow Papyrus fans creating flat-lays all day was truly incredible. It was also really great to see one lucky attendee win her very own Judith Leiber Clutch! I wanted to enter the contest so badly, but that would not have been morally right! Ya know? (Giggles)
Another wonderful highlight was how kind the the Papyrus team was to allow me to partake in many of the day’s events and lectures. My favorite was the beauty lounge by Laura Mercier and the Women in Business talk with Rebecca Minkoff and Kendra Scott, who are both my spirit animals in so many ways, its not even funny! They are true inspirations! However, the best moment of the entire day (other than getting to play with papyrus cards for hours on end) was having the once in a lifetime opportunity to hear and meet Key Note speaker, women’s rights activist, journalist and all around the coolest lady I’ve ever met, Gloria Steinem!! I had to pinch myself after meeting her! I thanked her for being such a remarkable influence on women’s rights and for paving the way for women everywhere to speak their mind and have their own individual voice and she replied “Well Dara, Thank you for being a woman and for allowing my words to influence you to be the strong confident and *ucking awesome woman you are!” At 83 years old – Gloria still has it going on!
Thank you Papyrus for wanting to work with me and for affording me such an unforgettable experience! I can’t wait to work with you again, soon!
