NYFW SS17: Dara’s Sent Style No. 2

On this day of fashion week it was one of the most humid yet windy days I have ever experienced in New York City. If humidity was visible it would have left all of us in a think coating of it. Well it sort of did since every person walking the street were soaked. It was rather unpleasant to witness and be part of. Since it was so hot outside I decided to wear a dress with a cape-blazer that I knew would keep we comfortable in the colder venues yet cooler when outside going from show to show. It was almost like wearing a vest with a chiffon cape over it that allowed with wind to blow right through and keep me cool, even while sweating my tooshie off. I had a had a very busy day of shows which kept me on my feet all day long so wearing my favorite flats from French Sole allowed me to look glamorous without feeling the whole “beauty is pain” mantra.

This was my favorite look of the week. I absolutely loved the way it contoured my figure and exuded sophistication, chic accents, a classic silhouette with a modern twist.

After photographing my look in the Meat Packing District I was stopped by people who were promoting Rhianna’s new fragrance and wanted me to partake in their social campaign which was pretty cool. So I did what I do naturally, I hopped in the bike and pretended to be the cover girl of the perfume. I mean, as best as I could! (giggles) A very nice highlight of the day was spending part of it with my fashion week partner in crime, Leckie Roberts of West Village Wasp. We met interning at NYFW in 2007 and have been lifelong friends ever since. Pictured below is us leaving Carmen Marc Valvo’s spring show which was as beautiful as ever!! Other highlights of attending Carmen’s show was seeing a few old bosses of mine (yes, interning at CMV was my first internship), sitting front row, and being seated next to Laura Osnes, a Broadway star I have admired for a very long time. It was great meeting Laura and speaking about everyday life situations, living in NJ, our favorite fashion week moments, but most of all theater. She made the show ever more enjoyable than I could have imagined! Such a sweet lady!
