MBFW F/W14 – Mathieu Mirano

Mathieu_Mirano_-_FW14_-_Look-29-0-bigthumbMathieu Mirano’s Fall 2014 collection was powerful and evocative with an emphasis on feminine silhouettes. Mirano said that he was inspired by “sexuality mixed with traditional. ” So what exactly does he mean? In simple terms, he crossed the “addicted to love, Robert Palmer girls, with Mugler’s supermodels of the 1990’s.

Mirano’s collection was modern and edgy. He incorporated body conscious silhouettes with classic bondage styling details. The color black dominated the first half of the show with a variety of fabrics including bonded leather, suede, and neoprene. The standout piece of the collection is the motorcycle jacket designed in a myriad of styles and fabrics, throughout the collection.

As the collection progressed, we began to see the transition into evening-wear styles. The color palette lightened to include navy, lilac, copper rose, winter white, and grey. Luxurious fabrics such as silk, chiffon, organza, fox fur, leather, and suede were embellished with sequin paillettes, fringe, crystals, and zippers.

Mathieu Mirano has proven he has the designing chops to be showing with “the big boys and girls, ” in NYFW.
