MBFW F/W14 – GEORGINE

Georgine Ratleband debuted her Fall 2014 collection titled “Georgine” at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 9th 2014. On a very snowy Sunday evening, a collection of pure beauty and timeless elegance was in-store for all who were invited. It has taken me a few moments to truly think how I would write this review. Why you ask? Well, Georgine’s Fall 2014 collection was so wonderful, no words or photographs could ever do it it justice. It wasn’t beautiful in the general sense of billowing ball gowns and over the top dresses, no! It was a collection that told a story of a sweet, sophisticated, smart, sexy yet tasteful and classy woman who was on a mission to be seen and understood as such. (or at least that is how the clothing spoke to us) As each look took to the runway the garments were even more stunning as the last, filling the room with an aura mystery and intrigue. All you heard were through the music were “Ooh’s & Aah’s” along with “Oh My Goodness, I need that, I want that, I love that, this needs to be in my closet!!!!” I was definitely one of those people gasping as luscious furs and elegant silks graced our presence!

For Georgine, the collection comprised of ready-to-wear beauties consisting of a wide range of mixing and matching separates and elongated body-con silhouettes that were a beautiful contrast to many over-sized frocks. Chiffon blouses (some with fur cuffs), over-sized fur coats, cashmere button-less overcoats, asymmetrical leather skirts, floral print sequin blouses, and skinny floral printed silk slacks were absolute standouts, tailored ever so meticulously in hues of olive-green, black, blues, camels, soft pink and fuchsia. Silver metallic pumps and sunglasses with circle frames and black lenses added a touch of modernism.

To complete the look Ric Pipino was on site to provide a flowing bounce to the model’s hair with his beautiful curl technique. The professionals at MAC Pro that gave each girl a dewy glow with a popping red-orange lip.

Georgine’s collection is certainly the way to dress for Fall 2014. We can’t wait to see more from this beautiful budding designer.
