We were “Charmed, I’m Sure.” by Erin Fetherson’s fall 2014 collection which was pretty, dainty and charming. Inspired by Grace Kelly Sylvia Plath, Joan Didion and Cybill Chephard, who frequently stayed at the Barbizon hotel on the Upper East Side of Manhattan from the 50’s to 60’s. The hotel’s atmosphere also gave great light onto the collection for its presentation was held at the the W Hotel in Union Square. Entering the posh room felt more like a crowded cocktail party that was set to a backdrop of models dressed in elegant and playful 50’s inspired clothing, who were also having more fun that one would usually witness at at a fashion week presentation; which was refreshing in its own right.
In the middle of the presentation stood a model wearing a “Charmed, I’m Sure” sweater with a flouncy a tulle/mesh skirt. It brought the elegance from one half of the collection and the fun sportswear elements of the other half together. Floral appliqués, sequins, and crop tops gave the collection a modern and youthful feel. The accessories were also a part of the collection that stood out. Mesh gloves with perfectly places pearls, small cat eye glasses, and silk ribbons in the hair tied the collection together perfectly for retro feel in 2014.
