Tadashi Shoji’s fall 2014 beautiful. Taking inspiration from African and European textiles was relevant on the runway. A heavy focus on embroidery and laser cut materials were brought to life on Feb 6th at Lincoln Center. Rich colors such as navy, red, green, ivory and purples were elegantly combined and used to resemble glazed used to color mosaic tiles. Flowing gowns made of embroidered tulle with corded flowers, micro-suede cape with laser cut-outs, and sleek feminine cocktail dresses were the perfect combination of sophistication and class. Most of the embroideries and laser cuts garments were made to resemble Moroccan mosaic tiling techniques. A favorite among the crowd was a velvet maxi skirt paired with a oversized silver sequin short-sleeve blouse, along with multiple sheer gowns with diamante, lace, paillette details; that are very on trend at the moment.
With a great eye for perfection and technique, Tadashi’s collection was beautifully crafted, elegant yet playful with the use of tulle and sheer paneling and sparkle. I am sure there will be many of these dresses on the red carpet.
