“Bon Chic, Bon Genre”DSC_9193

On the first official day of New York Fashion Week and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, BCBG opened up the week by celebrating 25 years of effortless fashion. Although a very snowy city surrounded the tents, fashion enthusiasts, buyers, and editors flocked to the early morning show in hopes of seeing a sexy, sophisticated and fun collection. And, that is what they got.

Although, the twenty-five year anniversary was not a retrospective on the brand’s heritage the collection however dug deep into it’s roots by its use of signature design elements that played off of a new look for fall 2014. What are these iconic BCBG elements of design that were used in the collection? Lots of color-blocking, a vast combination of rich textiles, and lots of asymmetrical hemlines. The collection was overloaded with lots of fur infused bulky layered frocks! Raccoon, fox, shearling, and rabbit were featured to heat up any fabulous woman’s wardrobe. A favorite fur featured item were the clutches that posed as hand-warmers in deep and pastel hues that the collection was based on. Although the fur made the collection seem more serious, the relaxed silhouettes (lots of maxi skirts, asymmetrical knee-length skirts, billowing shift dresses ,and slouchy pants) many with high slits and leather jackets added a sense of flirty playfulness. There are a lot of pieces we will definitely see fashion it girls coveting come next fall. If we had it our way, We’d wear them now!

Speaking with Lubov Azria backstage, she was in such awe that 25 years of BCBG has gone by;

“I can’t believe we’re 25 years old! I feel as if we just opened and had our first showing! Boy, time goes by so fast but we’ve enjoyed every moment of it! Even at hard times, it was all well worth it!”

As she thanked us for being a part of her and her husband’s 25 year celebration, she continued on to hoping to see us each year for the next twenty-fifth! Lubov, WE WILL BE THERE!

Thank you for having us again this season and we cannot wait till Spring 2015 and for the 50th anniversary of BCBG!
