MBFW F/W14 – WILDFOX COUTURE

_DSC8777On a very snowy evening in New York City, the LA based brand Wildfox Couture was able to transport us from the slush filled NYC streets, to an ultra cool, feminine, hip, bohemian, and floral winter wonderland at Pier 59. It was the perfect way to start off New York Fashion Week.

For Wildfox’s New York Fashion Week Debut, creative director Kimberly Gordon chose to be inspired by famed author, Jane Austen. The collections which was titled ” Sense and Eccentricity” was a perfect balance of British girly girl gone Los Angeles hipster. Many tops and sweatshirts were screen printed with stereotypical British and Jane Austen-esque  phrases such as; ‘ELLO, I see London, I see France, Mrs. Darcy, and my favorite… I Need A Drink!

As a whole the collection was a bit shabby chic with its floral prints and use of pastels (especially powder pink) throughout that were contrasted by hues of navy and black. Babies breath cascaded down models’ hair and a chunky assortment of peonies adorned them as headdresses.  Denim, cottons, toile, and slim and chunky knits is what the collection was made of.  WildFox’s statement sweaters and sweatshirts complimented flowing floor length skirts, overalls, pants, cute and flirty dresses, chunky boots and slouchy beanies gave a vibe of an ultra cool girl next door, who wants to make everyone believe that she doesn’t put a lot of effort into how she looks. it also had a bit of a grunge vibe from the 70’s & 90’s.

BEAUTY & BACKSTAGE

Backstage was bright and sweet with rice crispy cupcakes out for everyone to savor. The hair was beautifully tousled as if the models went for a playful run in a floral field or having spent the day along side the beaches of Malibu.  As stated before, pretty flowers complimented the hair by either one flower bud placed over the ear or a bunch of lowers as a wreath around the head.  Makeup provided by Stila Cosmetics was dewy and neutral with an emphasis on a blushed cheek and lip.

We give this collection a 10! The youthful age will go wild over the WILDFOX COUTURE all 2014 collection. We will without a doubt see it budding all over come next fall!
