The CFDA, NFL & BLOOMINGDALE’S Throw A Touchdown

“In celebration of Super Bowl XLVIII and in support of the National Football League Foundation (NFL Foundation), the CFDA and Bloomingdale’s have teamed up on a unique collaboration of customized football helmets, created by a slew of CFDA members.” -Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Each football helmet designed by one of the top designers will be sold at auction. You can bid on all 48 of the Super Bowl XLVIII helmets by visiting the Bloomingdales website provided here. Bloomingdales.com/superbowlhelmets The minimum bid for each helmet will be $248, celebrating the 48th Super Bowl which is taking place across two states. (The 2 is for both state teams and 48 is because the game will be played in New Jersey but in a New York team owned stadium)
Get your bidding brains ready, the auction will take place from January 15 through February 4, with 100% of the net proceeds benefiting the NFL Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those touched by the game of football. Through this grant the NFL supports youth and high school football programs to promote health and safety initiatives. Who knew that football could be so fashionable, and for a great cause to boot!

“This is the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in the New York region and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate by joining Bloomingdale’s and the NFL in merging fashion and sports with the creation of these unique helmets,” says Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO.

”We are excited to team up with Bloomingdale’s and the CDFA to auction off designer Super Bowl XLVIII helmets to support the work of the NFL Foundation,” said Natara Holloway, the NFL’s vice president of consumer products. “This unique collaboration is another way for fans of football and fashion to get closer to the game and be a part of the Super Bowl XLVIII festivities happening all across the New York-New Jersey region.”

“Bloomingdales’ New York Heritage combined with the fact that Super Bowl XLVIII is taking place in our back yard gives us an opportunity to merge fashion and sports in a modern way,” said Frank Berman, Bloomingdale’s executive vice president of marketing. “Through our unique collaborations, merchandise, and special events, we are able to celebrate Super Bowl XLVIII in-store and online bringing the excitement of this iconic event to our shoppers across a variety of touch points, all while supporting the NFL Foundation.”

I don’t know how one could just pick a singular helmet to bid on. I’m sure many fashion enthusiasts out there will be bidding on multiple helmets at a time, if not all of them whether they enjoy football or not! Oh, dear! Imagine having a shrine in your home both you and your man (or the men in your life) can equally appreciate! I think the CFDA scored a touchdown with this one! However, someone may have to act as a referee and call a time out on your bidding scores, for you don’t want to end up with a massive credit card bill. However, for these one of a kind babies…it just may be worth it! (Giggles)

The Helmets will be on display at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street location, in their windows for passers-by to get a glimpse of how each designer creatively and true to their esthetic, designed their helmet. They are truly spectacular!
