Ruffles, Peplums, and Floral Prints!
Nanette Lepore’s Spring 2014 collection was the perfect combination or simple femininity and easy-breezy style. For the first time in several years, Lepore decided to ditch the highly tech-smart fabrics and used more neutral materials to compose her collection. The color palate was vibrantly muted with hues of blush, poppy red, daffodil yellow, and aqua blue. Many bias-cut silk slips with beautifully tailored breezy peplums gave the collection lots of romantic qualities. Imagine yourself on a tropical island with one of these dresses on and you’re sure to have many fall in-love with you. This ultra wearable ready to wear collection was also composed of outfits such as a crisp white ruffled top paired with poppy-red printed short-shorts, daffodil yellow leather jacket over a ruffled blush stripped dress, a floral printed one piece swim suit with cut outs, a fitted white leather jacket paired with a mesh sweater and a pleated tennis skirt, as well as lots of variations of the maxi dress. It also included a few day suites for the working gal to wear to work on a hot summer day. Worn on the feet were chunky-soled heels and flat sandals giving the collection a more youthful presence. The hair was very simple with very little styling – very natural, as was the makeup. However a pop of a poppy-red lip was warn to compliment the same color used in the garments throughout the collection. The 1970’s disco music playing during the show made for a really fun time! Many guests were found bopping and singing along to the music, myself as well. This really pulled the whole event together!
we really did like this collection and thought it brought out the essence of who Nanette Lepore designs for; the youthful, sophisticated power woman.
We can’t wait till next season – Fall 2014
