Jill Stuart, widely known for her feminine fabrications and use of beautiful appliques made a bolder and sexier statement for Spring 2014. It all started when a heavily remixed set of “My Boyfriend’s Back” started booming from the speakers gearing us up for a 60’s inspired collection. Heads started bopping, but “the pony” was no where to be found among the audience. (Tat would have been really fun to see!) However, the 60’s inspiration was a mainstay through the collection with bold shift dresses and super short skirts.
The color story was strictly black, white and sort of a periwinkle tone. Fabrications of leather, lace and mesh were a nice combo that played off of sweet and edgy. There was a lot of sheer paneling in many of the looks including the adorable baby-doll dresses; which many also had cute cut-out sections which were strategically placed. To give the collection more fabricated structure, chunky knits that were worn with hot pants and bikini bottoms. The prints were made of floral and bold black and white diagonal striped designs, but not together on the same garment.
Regardless of how barely there and sultry this collection was, there were definitely frocks that her adoring and fashion forward customer would wear. Also, Lindsey Wixson was there to show them off, what could be better than that?
Till Next Season…
