Spanish fashion brand, Desigual is known for, their vibrant prints and trendy garments. This spring season at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week they were a pure eye and mood elevator, which I think is in large part due to its collaboration with Christian Lacroix!
I greatly enjoy when designers instruct their models to have fun in their clothes when walking down the runway. It is refreshing and really shows how the clothes move when wearing them. A far cry from most shows that have very serious tones to them, where the models walk down the runway with attitudes portraying “I have somewhere else better I’d like to be“!
Disco, Disco, Disco & Fun, Fun Fun was the mood at Desigual’s Spring 2014 show. Dancing models who were all playful and gave extra spunk, flirtation, silliness, and air kisses straight to the cameras as they stopped at the end of the runway to have their picture taken by 100’s of shuttering photographers! No wonder the theme of this collections displayed of a bright orange cape was La Vida es Chula, which means, Life is Cool! 
As we would expect for the Spanish brand; black complimented by white and bright jewel tones with funky floral and geometric prints were a party all their own on 60’s and 70’s inspired frocks such as shift dresses, fitted day suits, hot pants and wide-leg draped bell bottoms for the women and heavily printed blazers, t-shirts, and button downs, mostly paired with jeans that were cuffed right above the for the guys! A fun use of over sized sunglasses and floppy hats gave the collection a tropical and South American feel.
What a ball of joyous fun! I can’t wait to see this collection on Desigual store racks and purchase a few of the vivacious garments for next Spring! Wahoo! Now, if every show at fashion week was this fun…I think our economy would pick up a bit…don’t you?
