Ever since I was a little girl I have had an bit of an obsession with hand mirrors. There was always something about them that screamed nostalgia to me! How many women had viewed themselves through the piece of glass before me, was a though that emanated my brain each time I would find a hand mirror! As an old soul this thought runs through my brain when viewing anything from antique world. But, hand mirrors just always stood out to me as being the most beautiful creations of yesteryear. Maybe it was the dainty physique and ornate artistry and design that was molded or etched into the materials they were made from (wood, gold, silver) or maybe it was how at a very young age, I saw both my grandmothers use them either at their vanity or taken from their purse used to make sure their nose was powdered enough on special occasions. I like to think its a combination of the two. My entire life,
whenever I see a hand mirror in a museum or an antique shop, even at a more modern store today I always pause and take in its beauty!
What can I say, I just love hand mirrors!
