The people of IMG and Mercedes Benz did a remarkable job of cleaning up the snow after the 3rd day of fashion week. What a storm it was. freezing rain and extreme winds blowing the hats off of all the fashion forward who tried to hale a cab…including myself. Luckily the weather eased and fashion week charged on! Although some may think differently, as far as my feet went I chose practicality and functionality over fashion which I know in most cases is not necessarily the best way to go during fashion week. However, Why would I want to get my “good” shoes ruined in the blackened slushy New York City streets walking to a show? Exactly! So I chose to wear my moon boot like snow boots which were life savers when going to my many off location fashion shows and presentations. I had to climb over mounds of snow to get to a few of them, no lie. Especially when trekking to the Christian Siriano show when my taxi dropped me off on the wrong street and I had to walk and climb over snow for a few blocks. Not so attractive, but we all do our best for the love of fashion!

Luckily, again the outfit I chose to wear that day looked somewhat appropriate with my snow boots by Pajartex (which kept my tootsies very very warm and comfortable throughout the storm). The tiger placement print blouse and fur trimmed boots accented each other nicely with a feline feel, something I don’t go for that often – but I enjoyed it here! For a demure pop of color I went with my oxblood blazer from Fashion to Figure and for a nice shiny texture contrast I chose to wear my disco pants from American Apparel.

As for Accessories, I went bold and golden. This statement necklace I bought in 2006 at H&M helped pull this look together with a bang of rhinestone power! Complimenting this necklace are two bold bracelets from Jewel Mint on one wrist and a collection of Dara Senders fresh water pearl bangles on the other. Yes, I designed and hand made the bangles. I am obsessed with them, not just because they are my own creation, but because they literally go with everything and are so comfortable to wear!
I was just so happy to be at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week after the Blizzard named after the Disney fish “Nemo”, I couldn’t resist doing a little happy dance by the famous Lincoln Center fountain!
