Attending Tracy Reese’s Spring 2013 show, for me, was very special. You see, back in 2004, her fall 2005 collection was the first designer fashion show I had ever been to. I was in high school and was given a very rare opportunity thanks to Fern Mallis and her team, all because I wanted to volunteer as a high school student for Olympus Fashion week, now known as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!
As I entered the tent this season I had the same exciting feeling at I did when I was a teen. Being seated 2nd row wasn’t too shabby either. I had the great opportunity to be seated behind some great ladies. Lauren Conrad, Katie Lee, Shanae Grimes, Odette Yustman, and Louise Roe. What made this more incredible was when the photographers told Lauren to angle herself so I’d be in the photograph, calling “Dara, Dara look here!!” I guess my writing is really paying off, which I couldn’t be happier about.
The lights went down and the music started playing while a video of abstract art, rural & city scenes projected onto the backdrop of the runway.
The collection was very different for Tracy Reese; ultra feminine frocks need not apply. Tracy went more Rock & Roll! A playful juxtaposition of construction was the focus for spring 2013. Miss-matching colors and patterns (which surprisingly worked) and flowing, loose fitting and bohemian-like, comfort focused garments made their way down the runway. The colors were said to be inspired by nature, foliage mostly; fruity, melon, and earth tones of orange, yellow, green and blue were used. Mixing linen, leather, and sequins, was fresh and breezy!
Although I was looking forward to Tracy’s pretty cocktail dresses I thoroughly enjoyed this seasons collection.
Look who I ran into right after the show in the lobby of MBFW!! Old college buds..
I CAN’T WAIT FOR TRACY REESE’s NEXT SEASONS COLLECTION!!!!!
