As most of you know, I’ve been attending NYFW since I was 16years old (circa 2004-2005) all thanks to Academy of Art University, my Mother, & fashion industry icon Fern Mallis! If you need refreshing a later post will explain how I got my start! But, my remaining thought was that because I’ve been attending fashion week for so long, you’d think I’d get tired if it! Well, my dear readers, that is very far from the truth!
Each season fashion week combines its classic & esteemed designers with its new & fresh designers in a blender of artistic wonder that serves up a smoothie of fashion history – in the making – which never gets old! Even though the tents may look mainly the same and the order of operations may be the same, each and every season brings different experiences to all who attend the most epic week NYC has to offer! THE FASHION OLYMPICS – as I like to call it! It is also the one & only time when millions of people world wide are allowed inside & backstage access into the fashion industry at the same time! All eyes are on the designers, editors, celebs, etc. while the designers’ eyes are all on making sure they bring you a collection you can take home to mom!
As Fashion Week Began I found myself intertwined in a web of fabulous invitations to many fashion shows all around NYC!
Some included: Tibi, Falguni Shane Peacock, Carlos Luna, Costello Tagliapietra, NOLCHA, Farah Angsana, & Bill Blass,, just to name a few!
I will be reporting on these shows shortly!
Oh how I miss when Fashion Week was held at Bryant Park, but I have come to appreciate its new home at Lincoln Center! After all, for a theatre junkie like I, who is also obsessed with fashion, its so great walking up those steps as you face the large magnificent fountain that stands in the middle of the front yard of Lincoln Center, that joins together the NYC-BALLET, NYC-OPERA, & the NY-Philharmonic!! HEAVEN? I think so!!
Stay tuned for detailed followups on all the shows I attended!!
